Summit City Bassmasters
2002 Kids Outing
The Summit City Bassmasters 2002 Kids Outing was held at a pond near Woodburn, Indiana on August 10, 2002. The Summit City Bassmasters hosted 17 youngsters with disabilities and their families for some fishing and a cook-out. The youngsters were from the Turnstone Center for Disabled Children and Adults. The club holds a Kids Outing at least once each year as part of the club's commitment to the betterment of the Fort Wayne and Northeast Indiana community.
Thanks to Summit City Bassmasters members Corey Linder and Max Egley and their wives Jill and Karen for organizing this event for the club. Thanks also to the other club members and their wives who were gracious with their help. A special thanks to Kyle Winling for his assistance. The event was fun and enjoyed by all who attended.

Each of the kids are presented with a rod, reel, tackle and tackle box. The club raises money and accepts donations to buy the fishing equipment and provide the food. The participating youngster keeps the rod, reel, and tackle box so after this event is over, they may use it to go fishing often.

A lunch of hamburgers, hotdogs, baked beans, cole slaw, watermelon and more was served to the hungry kids and crew. Then it was back to fishing.

Unfortunately, although it was a beautiful day, few fish were caught. Just like many of our tournament days.
